The Badgers upset the Buckeyes to hand them their first loss of the season and while it won't overly affect the
March Madness lines - in other words, nobody is shaming the Buckeyes for a road loss in Wisconsin - there has been some bitter blood after that contest.
Ohio State quickly bounced back by trouncing Michigan State on Tuesday night but the sour taste from the Wisconsin loss still lingers.
After the Badgers win, their fans stormed the court and Buckeyes star Jared Sullinger claims that one of the Badgers fans in the crowd spit in his face. He made it known via his Twitter account and the news has since been causing quite the hubbub in the media.
Wisconsin head coach Bo Ryan came out in defense of his fans - to an extent - as he claims that the Kohl Center has video cameras everywhere and none of them showed evidence of Sullinger's claim.
It's interesting to hear Ryan's defensive position when you consider what Ohio State head coach Thad Matta had to say. In short, he viewed the situation that kids will be kids and these types of things will happen when the atmosphere gets as heated as it did on Saturday. Both coaches have very differing views.
Sullinger is clearly one of the stars on the Buckeyes team and it's not surprising that the Badgers - or their fans - would make him the focus. He's a Player of the Year candidate as he is averaging 17.8 points per game along with 10.0 rebounds per contest.
Sullinger failed to mention anything to the reporters post-game, which is why his claims are viewed with some skepticism. It wasn't until he tweeted later than the issue came to light.
The two team will square off a second time on March 6th in Columbus, Ohio.
